How to change Adobe Flash Player Security and Privacy Settings .

If you are busy with somethin, just scroll down to get to the technical point else spare a few seconds just to know why I shared this here.. !

Omegle has became a recent favorite time pass for my hostel mates and unfortunately for my friends (for me too) who were using Ubuntu Linux OS, Omegle was not working very fine. The problem was with a privacy security warning which appeared before they connected themselves to the stranger on the other side. Though my friends on this side was least cared about PRIVACY they were unable to click the Allow Button. The message was that

Camera and Microphone access

www.blahblah.com is requesting access to your camera and microphone. If you click allow you may be recorded.

Now there is a button to Allow but it is UN-CLICKABLE  :(

Immediately after facing the problem we googled a lot but were unable to find a solution.

Even now though we haven’t solved it, we are able to work fine with the Camera.

Now here I will explain how to access Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager to correct the problem of “Un-Clickable”.

For getting it well you have to change a few settings of Adobe Flash Player at the Settings Manager. Now you can’t actually access this settings manager from your computer but you have to goto SettingsManager

Now you can see various options like

On clicking on these various panel options, Settings Manager which appears to be a image is seen. It’s actually your Settings Manager and not just an image. You can change the settings here. In this particular case for fixing the issue with the camera, Click Website Privacy Settings Panel.

In the website list, scroll down to find omegle.com or the site which camera is not working fine for you. After selecting the website click on ‘ Always Allow ‘. Now you won’t be asked any privacy security question at that particular website, here Omegle. So you can have comfortable chat with Strangers now.

Now this same Adobe Settings Manager Can be used to increase the Volume of recording while using flash based Webcam applications. For increasing it goto Microphone Settings.

The procedure to change the adobe flash player settings is the same in all Mac Operating systems Lion and Snow leopard, Windows 7 and Windows XP and other linux based OSs like Ubuntu, Fedora just to name a few. This is because we are not having an offline serttings manager but an online Settings manager.

Monetizing your WordPress blog on mobile web using AdMob and Mippin

After one of my friend’s blog started creating considerable revenue through Google Adsense, he wanted to try his luck in Mobile Advertising. I had heard about Google Adsense for Mobile Content and also rumours that mobile ads were high paying compared to the usual web ads. So I thought why not help him. Browsing number of forums and posting my thread, none drew much response. I was actually searching for plugins for monetization with Google Adsense for Mobile Content. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any. But that was when I heard about AdMob which was yet another mobile advertising networks. Just like me for many, had a doubt if it was legit? Though I don’t have much experience with it personally,  I think it’s worth giving a try as Google has recently acquired AdMob for it’s expansion, with Adsense for Mobile Content. So it’s future is not going to be dull :)

The other advantage is that with mippin, you will have your webpages optimized for viewing in Mobile Browsers.

I will explain step by step about installing the plugin and Configuring with AdMob and Mippin.

1. Get your mobile version of the site registered at Mippin.

As the first step give your RSS feed URL/Website URL, Select the Layout and Customize it according to your likes.

Now for proceeding you will have to register at Mippin.com. Get it done.

2. Under the Publicize tab, give the URL  of your Mobile Webpage of your like. Give your tags. Also keep a note of the “code below”. Just Copy it into somewhere in your PC.

You will be needing the id in that code when configuring the plugin.

3. Now under the Monetize Tab, you will have to validate your website.

So copy “Mippin Feed Validation Key= XXXXXX” and publish as a post in your blog with the the copied statement as the title and content.

Then click Validate.

4. Now register for an account at AdMob. After confirming the account, login with your username and password at Admob. Click Add new Sites and App under the MARKETPLACE tab.

Now give your Mippin Site URL under the url coloumn.

Now you have to enter your admob id for getting it Click on “Here” and Click on the name of your website.

Now enter your Admob id at the coloumn at Mippin Webpage.

5.Things are almost done. Now get this Mippin plugin installed in your WordPress blog. After installation is complete go to the page of Mippin Plugin, there is a coloumn for entering Mippin id. Give the id found in the earlier code [Step2] found at the Mippin website.

6.Now just wait for a day for your ads to appear in Mippin website. Try accessing your website from the mobile.

You don’t need to manualy set the position of Mobile Ads in your website. Everything will be done by the plugin.

I used to just wander on the WEB when I have got nothing better to do and recently during one of my strolls, I cam across a website omegle. I would suggest you to just check it out, when you just want to kill your time somehow. It’s a website where you can have a personal chat with someone complete stranger around this globe and “make friends” as it goes. Just as any other chat-rooms, girls are preferred here by everyone and mostly just after connecting you will get a question from the stranger on the other side “asl?”. And if your answer is “m 20 india” chances are high that the stranger will disconnect. :) Don’t misunderstand this as yet another chatrooms where all are just shouting aloud and even if you try personal chat, just after a few secs you will realize that the guy on the other side was nothing but a BOT which is trying to promote most probably a porn site promising live Cam view :P I had this experience often using YAHOO messenger. So just  check it out, frankly speaking, do it only if you haven’t got anything better to do !!

Now Omegle has got even more better with the video chat feature enabled. You can chat with anonymous people around the world with your web-cam. If there are any problems with viewing your webcam properly, try this. Right Click on the part the screen where you camera is supposed to be working and try changing the various options.

Getting Started with GTK and GLade for GUI programming

Considering you have read the previous article on GUI programming, this article will give an insight about GTK.

When starting learning Glade, it is essential to learn the basic concepts of GTK+. Unfortunately there is a misconception that it’s enough to learn Glade for learning GUI designing rather than learning GTK+. Glade is definitely an easier way to implement GTK but it is impossible to create interface for your application with only Glade knowledge.

Official GTK+ tutorial is the best place to learn the Basic things about GTK+. Though reading the entire documentation may seem to be a herculean task, it would good to cover important topics like packing of widgets. After having a basic knowledge about GTK+, next step is having a look at the official Glade3 manual. Version that is supplied with Glade3 is outdated,you can find a simpler and more updated one here.

Now if you think, you are well and comfortable with GTK+ Basics, you will definitely want to try a real world example. Many authors provide tutorials with real world examples. I managed to find out two such, one by Micah carrick and other by Tadej Borovšak. It would be better to follow Tadej’s Tutorial as the former one does not use Glade3-3.6.7 which is latest version. Anyway you can also give a look at the tutorial by Micah. Now when you start seriously with GTK programming, never forget to visit GTK Forum for getting your doubts cleared.

Now if you are ready to spend a few bucks try to get a copy of  Foundations Of GTK development.

Arch Linux, First step in creating your own OS

It’s a dream of every noob that even before coding the first “Hello World” program, student want to know how to code an OS. Dreams are good but this is harder than one can image. If you are so strong with your dream, rather than thinking of coding your OS from scratch better you try building your own Arch. Arch Linux is a fully customizable, light weight operating system. The CD image can be downloaded. But this is actually a very slim installation and it’s not at all usable. You will have to install the window manager, desktop environment and everything else you see on a full fledged operating system.

One of the main disadvantage of Arch Linux is it’s cryptic text based installer. So better you watch some video and get familiarised with the instalation procedure.

Search for Ebooks on Google more effectively with Advanced Google Search Operators

Many times we have tried searching for pdf/chm books online and using our ordinary search queries, rarely give any results fast. But with a simple geeky search you can find what you want in first page of Google Search Result.

I am just giving the method and you can try and verify it yourself.

In the first case I am using just the Book Name as the search query in google.

In the second method instead of using just the Book Name, use the following query for searching in Google.

intitle:index.of chm|pdf <book name>
Results are incredibly different. Instead of being taken to their Website you can access their website just as you access various directories in your computer and download it at ease.

NB: Never use this method for downloading WAREZ from illegal websites. Hope you would use it right way.

Search man pages in linux for a particular word / command

Wikipedia defines man pages as “extensive documentation that comes preinstalled with almost all substantial Unix and Unix-like operating systems”. Just as the definition goes sometimes the documentation is so extensive that you are unable to find the data you need.

Actually it’s not a big deal to find a particular word. You would have noticed that the usual Ctrl+F won’t work here.

For finding a particular word just access the man pages by man command.

Then for finding a particular ‘word’ type /word followed by Enter.

Now the first word will be highlighted. For the finding the instances of that word in next pages of the man page press Space and the ‘word’ in the next page will be highlighted. That’s it.

This same method also  can also  be used in vi for searching words.

The interface though seem to be complicated actually provides more room for personalizing your interface compared to other usual commercial softwares.
